We are pleased to share that we have secured funding to replace the museum roof and address maintenance backlogs. This important work will begin in mid-July. We're planning carefully to minimise any impact on your visit, but there will be some risks to visitors and museum objects we have to prepare for. Phase one will focus on the roofs above the natural history galleries and the floors in galleries 2 and 3. To prepare, objects will be removed from displays, and the natural history dioramas will be covered to protect them from vibration. We aim to keep all world culture galleries open and enrich your visit with additional activities. If you wish to see the natural history dioramas, we recommend visiting in June. Visits to Quex House and Gardens will continue throughout the works. We deeply appreciate your support and understanding. If you have any concerns, please email us at enquiries@powell-cottonmuseum.org.
Enjoy a relaxed visit to us with your group. We are currently confirming group visits from July 2024 onwards for Quex House and Gardens only. We are awaiting details on weekday museum access and when this has been confirmed, provisionally booked groups will be contacted. In light of restricted museum access, we will honour our gardens-only group visit rate and include a complimentary guided tour of Quex House for all group visits taking place between July – December 2024.
Group visits can benefit from:
Weekday Prices:
Weekday (excluding bank holidays) 3 hour Gardens visit with a complimentary tour of Quex House.
Optional Extras:
Head Gardener tour (45 minutes plus questions) – £150 extra for up to 30 people
Weekends
The Museum, House and Gardens are open at weekends and bank holidays for the general public to visit from Saturday 11th February to Sunday 29th October. We are awaiting details of weekend museum access and will confirm this on our ‘plan your visit’ page as soon as possible.
If your group wishes to visit at these times when we are already open, you are welcome to visit on a self-guided basis. Your group can benefit from the standard weekend admission rates however private tours are not available. Please note that tours from the Head Gardener will also not be available on these dates.
