What are your opening days and hours?

We are open for the season from Saturday 14th February until Friday 30th October. Plus additional winter open days (see our ‘What’s On’ page for details)

Our open days during term time are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays.

Our open days during school holidays are Wednesday to Sunday and Bank Holidays.

We are open from 11am to 4pm unless otherwise stated for event days.

How do I buy tickets?

You can pre-book your visit online via our Tyg Ticketing platform.

We advise pre-booking online wherever possible to guarantee your chosen visit date.

What's included in my ticket?

Your standard admission ticket includes:

  • Entrance to the museum, Quex House and Gardens
  • Free guided tours inside the museum and Quex House*
  • Free hire of backpack buddies for young visitors
  • Free hire of SEND backpacks for visitors with additional needs

A programme of special activities and events throughout the year (please note these may incur a higher admission charge)

*Please note that entrance to Quex House will be by guided tour only. Tour times will be published on the day. Please email enquiries@powell-cottonmuseum.org to check if tours will be available on the day you plan to visit.

Parking

We have a car park adjacent to the main museum building entrance.

The parking is less than 50 metres from the main entrance.

Parking is free and there are three accessible parking spaces.

There is a drop-off point with a dropped curb at the main entrance.

From the car park to the entrance, there is level access.

The route is a minimum of 1500mm wide.

Access

We have worked with AccessAble so you can find out about our facilities before you visit.

Dogs and Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs only are allowed in the museum, house and gardens.

If your assistance dog is thirsty we will provide water, please just ask a member of staff.

Toilets

Toilets can be found in the main museum building. An accessible toilet is available.

Eating & Drinking

Food is not allowed to be consumed in the museum, however you are welcome to bring a picnic to enjoy in the gardens. Please take your rubbish home with you.

Our gift shop stocks delicious ice cream and cold drinks.

Felicity’s Cafe is situated at the front of the museum. They serve breakfasts, lunches, desserts and delicious afternoon tea’s. All their cakes are freshly baked on site.

Indoor and outdoor seating available, pre-booking is advised.

Weather closures

During extreme weather such as high winds, it may be necessary to close areas of the site at short notice, for the safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers.

On very windy days it is advisable to check which areas of the site are open before your visit. The best place to do this is on our social media channels.

Free Wifi

We aim to provide free WiFi throughout the Museum and parts of the Gardens, but access and signal strength can be intermittent in some areas.

Weddings

We are delighted that Quex Weddings and Events operates at the museum, house and gardens.

Occasionally, weddings may privately hire Quex House for their big day. Up coming wedding dates will be listed below. No house tours will be available on these dates.

If you visit on one of these dates, please ask us to credit your ticket so you can come back and enjoy a house tour soon.
