In September 2020, the Powell-Cotton Trust announced their vision ‘people matter’ with supporting aims laid out in our ‘Reimagining the Museum’ statement. In Summer 2024, the Trust reviewed and updated its Values and Vision to incorporate this ethos, the lessons learned and people-centred approach as our business as usual, ensuring it is at the heart of what we do.
Values
Social Responsibility: we believe that as an organisation we must operate with integrity, caring not just for the building and collection ethically, but ensure we facilitate meaningful emotional connections that have a positive impact on our society, environment and community.
Equity: we believe that everyone’s lived experience should be valued, both past voices and present, empowering individuals and communities through our positive and pro-active actions.
Courage: we believe that through bold innovative and imaginative approaches to our work, we can enable open and honest conversations that mean we do the right thing for the collection and connected people.
Vision
We will be an inclusive, engaging and collaborative centre of excellence enabling exploration of our world class collections and garden to deliver lifelong learning, research and social impact, locally, nationally and internationally.
