Join us on Bank Holiday Monday, 25 May, for a special day of activities celebrating the richness and diversity of cultures across the African continent.

Travel across Africa as you follow our giant map of the continent, stopping in Kenya, Namibia and the Republic of the Congo. Along the way, our curator will share enchanting stories inspired by each country and connected to objects from the museum’s collections.

This welcoming, hands-on day for families, children and visitors of all ages includes:

A guided story tour for children – a fun and engaging curator-led journey for our young explorers and their families.

Adinkra printing activities – drop in and create your own design inspired by traditional Ghanian symbols.

African drumming sessions – enjoy the rhythm, movement and music.

Explore our African collections – discover our world-renowned animal dioramas alongside material culture objects from across Africa.

All activities are included with your standard admission ticket.
