We’re open for learning visits for both schools and home-educating families on certain days.

The date for our Autumn home educators day will be announced soon.

We have answered some questions specifically relating to home educator visits below. For SEND specific downloadable information please visit our SEND page.

How many supervising adults can come per booking?

There is no limit as to how many supervising adults can be added to the booking however we have a limit of one free supervising adult or responsible person for every 5 children. Additional adults on the same booking will be charged £6.

Is the price the same for home educator visits the same as school visits?

Yes. We charge £5+vat per child. We never charge for supervising adults and teachers but there will be a limit on how many can visit per booking.

When can we visit?

Our first home educators day was in June 2021 and we are finalising an Autumn date now.

Please note the museum, house and gardens are currently closed for 2 years whilst we undertake our re-imagining programme. We will be open for special events, school visits and other learning visits on specified dates.

Will we have exclusive use of the museum during our visit?

The museum, house and gardens are currently closed for day to day visits whilst we undertake a programme of re-imagining. During this time, capacities for visits will be strictly adhered to. On home educator visits days, other home educating families will be visiting. You may also see museum staff, researchers or volunteers during your visit. If you do see someone at work, please say hello and ask us questions about what we are doing, we’re a friendly bunch.

Can we visit Quex House during our visit?

Quex House will remain closed for visitor access on this day.

Have you got a COVID-19 risk assessment?

All our risk assessments for learning visits have been reviewed in light of the current circumstances. When you book onto this event we will send you a copy of our risk assessment.

How do we book?

This will be a ticketed open day and pre-booking is essential. If you would like to be notified about ticket releases please email us at learning@powell-cottonmuseum.org.
